- A trench is excavated andis sloped approximately 0.6% downhill toward a catch basin or into the watermanagement system which allows gravity to clear the water.
- The trench excavation allows for theplacement of the concrete on both sides and the bottom of the channel(s) forthe concrete thickness and reinforcement specified.
- Miter joint cuts are made by sawingthe channels to the desired angle and butting them together. A suitable adhesiveis used to bond the two sections together. If the channels are to transport acorrosive solution, an appropriate sealant is used.
- Cutting polymer concrete for miterjoints and length adjustments is accomplished by using water-cooled diamond encrustedblades masonry blades to prevent cracking and to ensure a flaw-less edge.
- We may recommend in particularsituations that expansion joints are installed parallel to the drain to preventany potential damage and to promote the longevity of the system.
- The drain is suspended in the trenchapproximately 1/8” below grade. The concrete is poured into the trench slopingtowards the grate in a manner not to disturb the properly aligned channelsystem.
- The grates are removed and cleaned asrequired.
- All debris and any concrete spillageis cleaned out of trench and catch basins.
- The grates are securely fastened.
The channel drain system is now completeand ready for operation!
